To The Sent Ones – Arise and Prepare the Way of the Lord!

Months ago, the Lord woke me up at 1:57 am for several nights in a row. He led me to this verse:

Now Elizabeth’s full time came for her to be delivered, and she brought forth a son. ~Luke 1:57 NKJV

This verse refers to the birth of Jesus’ cousin, John the Baptist. Prophetically, even before he was conceived, John was a sent one – called and commissioned to prepare the way of the Lord:

15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” ~Luke 1:15-17 NKJV

I believe we are in a time and season where we will see the Lord birth and raise up people in a “John-the-Baptist-like” calling. They are the sent ones for this generation.

They will emerge fresh from the wilderness, purified, delivered from and healed of their bondage, carrying the hope and the message of the true gospel and the real Jesus.

Their messages will be birthed from intimacy and relationship with Jesus, which were forged in the wilderness. They know that they know Who they know because they have literally met and walked with Jesus. They know that they know what they know because they have literally lived out the gospel in verses and parables.

The sent ones will be wild and free – bold, raw, real, transparent, rough around the edges, untamed, unashamed, uncompromising, unwavering. They will preach of the baptism of repentance. They will share the hard Biblical truths with both tough love and sweet compassion because they have walked it all out with Jesus.

They will be filled with and fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit. They will carry His fire.

They will confront, agitate, and frustrate the religious spirit like no others because they have defeated this spirit in their own lives. They will not tolerate it and will unabashedly call it out. They will make no apologies for it.

These sent ones will prepare the way of the Lord just as Zacharias prophesied over John the Baptist after his birth:

76 “And you, my little son,
will be called the prophet of the Most High,
because you will prepare the way for the Lord.
77 You will tell his people how to find salvation
    through forgiveness of their sins.
78 Because of God’s tender mercy,
the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us,
79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
and to guide us to the path of peace.” ~Luke 1:76-79 NLT

They will prepare the way of the Lord by:

  • verse 77 – preaching repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ who died to forgive all sin.
  • verse 78 – bringing His light to those in darkness and facing eternal death.
  • verse 79 – guiding people onto the path of peace (reconciliation) with Father God.

Sent ones ARISE! Prepare the way the of Lord!

“Behold, I send My messenger,
And he will prepare the way before Me. ~ Malachi 3:1a
